I had seen videos of Saco Heath Preserve floating around online and it quickly made its way to my “To Do” list. It’s made up mostly of a beautiful, colorful boardwalk with some areas of packed dirt. It’s very easy and flat – I did the hike wearing my Chaco sandals and was fine. It only about 2 miles round trip and you can find it on AllTrails.

My sister and I did this together and really enjoyed listening to all the birds here. I’d love to go back with my camera to do some birding. It was such a pretty walk in the spring and it’d be nice go back during other seasons to see how it looks. This would definitely be a great place to take a family since the trail is so easy.
Please leave your furry friends at home though. When we were there, we saw some people with an off-leash dog they were letting run wild through the fragile ecosystem – huge no no!!!

This is a lovely little trail on the coast of Maine that’s easily accessible from major highways. It would be a great place to stretch your legs on a long drive!
