Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts – 2022

It’s time for another edition of the annual girls trip to Martha’s Vineyard! Our morning ferry ride was a bit messy – it was raining and dreary but it started to clear up right as we entered the harbor. We had a lot of time to kill before the house would be ready for us so we stopped at Woodland Variety & Grill to get breakfast. They had cheap, yummy breakfast sandwiches and a place to sit and eat.

Our first official stop after breakfast was second breakfast at Grey Barn Farm in Chilmark. We had stopped there in 2021 and gotten veggies, cheese, etc. but we really wanted to get there in time to get their famous croissant this visit. We were in line for about 30 minutes before we got inside. I bought a chocolate croissant and it was actual perfection. We also met a cute cat on the farm who was very photogenic!

After Grey Barn, we checked out the West Tisbury Farmers Market. It was small but it had a variety of vendors. I bought some produce for our dinner later that night. I love supporting the local businesses when we’re on the island. After the market, we headed to the beach for a few hours until the house was ready.

The next morning we went straight to the beach – it was a perfect day for it. After the beach and freshening up we decided to check out a place we had heard great things about called Nomans. It’s a bar and restaurant with a ton of outdoor seating. We lounged around outside, drank wine and ate some snacks. It was dog friendly and we saw lots of sweet pups while we were here.

Monday morning we woke up to rain, which was unfortunate since we planned to do another beach day. We had a lazy morning instead and I took advantage of the free time by going for a run on the bike path near the house. Around mid-morning we left the house – our first stop being Island Alpaca. As always, we loved seeing the alpacas. They had a few babies there and one of them was very feisty and entertaining to watch.

Once we had our fill of alpaca cuteness, we headed into Edgartown. We wanted to get lunch at Behind the Bookstore. We had been once before but just for cocktails so we decided to try the food. Even though it was raining we were able to sit outside under their giant canopy. I had a deep fried grilled cheese. We all liked our drinks and enjoyed our meals. After lunch we went into the actual bookstore, Edgartown Books. We popped into some other shops before heading back to the house.

Our final day on the island we went back to the beach to soak up as much sun as possible before catching our ferry in Vineyard Haven. As usual, before getting on the ferry we walked around Vineyard Haven and stopped in some of our favorite stores.

It was another great trip and as always, I’m already looking forward to our next trip there!
