South Carolina – 2017

One of my girlfriends from college got married in June of 2017. For her Bachelorette, she wanted to go to Folly Beach and Charleston, South Carolina. There were quite a few of us going so we rented a big, beautiful house on the water, a quick walk from downtown Folly Beach.

Two of my best friends and I decided that instead of flying, weโ€™d road trip down and make an adventure out of it. We stopped in D.C. for a night to visit another college friend and then continued south the next day. We saw a lot of random things during our travels but perhaps the most peculiar was the rest stop at the North Carolina and South Carolina border – South of the Border.

We felt like we were on a movie set, but at the same time, it was kind of creepy as there werenโ€™t many people around. Needless to say, it was an interesting detour. When we finally arrived in Folly Beach, we ended up going to the wrong house first and almost crashed another bachelorette party – whoops! But we figured out our mistake pretty quickly and found the correct address. The house we stayed at was beautiful and the coastal skies did not disappoint!

We didn’t get to explore too much unfortunately and the one bar I really enjoyed in Folly Beach burned down shortly after our visit! Also, we were only in Charleston for a few hours for dinner and some dancing so I feel like I didn’t truly get to experience the city.

Have you ever been to South of the Border or Folly Beach? If so, tell me your thoughts in the comments below!
